Sigrid Hovmand is a renowned Danish ceramicist who prefers to call herself a potter. She works exclusively with stoneware and has deep roots in the ceramic craft. She was trained at Kähler Keramik in Næstved, one of Denmark’s most prestigious workshops, and later established her own workshop on the island of Samsø in 1979. Hovmand combines traditional techniques with a personal expression, uniting function and aesthetics in her works, which range from everyday utilitarian items to unique pieces of art.
